My competitive side is starting to show.
Yesterday, I wasn't able to workout (swim) because I was so congested, but this morning I felt better and hit the gym around 5:30. I did a 3 mile run for time.
See, I really really really want to beat my friend who is joining us at this weekends Triathlon in Athens. it will be his first triathlon.
He's a big guy, about 220lbs, but he's been lifting and running for three years. He can run about 8:15 per mile for 3 to 6 miles which is very impressive for a big guy.
I haven't really focused on running this season until now. This morning I did 8:30 for 3 miles. That's not bad, but it's not enough to beat him on the run... and rest assured, I want to beat him. haha
He's pretty competitive too and believe me when I say he would love nothing more than to smoke me in the race.
This simply will not happen.
I am probably a better biker, and am definitely a better swimmer, and will absolutely burn his house down through transitions. That should be more than enough to make up for the 45 seconds I'm losing on the run. heheh.
This is going to be fun.
Another frakkin' cold front is blowing down as we speak. It's not going to be as cold as last year, 26˚ low, but it will be around a 42˚ low, and that will be pretty uncomfortable during the bike.
I plan on going with minimal clothing this time, that is, no jacket or long pants, but we'll see. I may have to go with that jacket after all.
Oh, and it's supposed to be raining... that will be a first, and quite a bummer.
Everything in the transition areas will be getting wet if it comes down hard. I'll bring some sort of plastic cover to protect my gear as much as possible.
In other news, I'm going to sign up for another triathlon in May. It's supposed to be a popular and very well organized event. Sounds like fun.
