Hell Of A Hail Storm

Yesterday, Amy and I cleaned out the garage, sort of getting it ready for the Jeep on Wed. We realized that the Jeep just isn't going to fit in there. I'm still slightly using one side of it for a storage area and makeshift gym. We still got a lot of things cleared out and organized the rest.

I had the boxes and bags slated to be thrown away sitting just outside the garage. I had planned on leaving them there overnight then moving them to the curb in the morning for trash pickup, but then it started to rain.

I decided to move everything back into the garage so it wouldn't get waterlogged, and it's a good thing I did too because the rain came hard. Then a few minutes into it, it started to hail. It was smacking the company truck and my car pretty hard so I ran out and pulled the car back into the garage.
Who cares about the company vehicle.
Then the hail started coming down REALLY hard. I don't think I've ever seen it that heavy. It was smacking down hard on everything, hitting the concrete and bouncing back into the air again. It gathered along the edges of the driveway, and there were piles of it around the bottom of the gutters.

After the rain let up, I went into the yard and gathered up hand fulls of the icy stuff. It was pea to marble-sized, and it was everywhere.

Got some pics:

My swim this morning went really well. I've already gotten faster and stronger over the past month. I'm finishing much better and it's all coming back. I practiced lane changing flip-turns this morning which will shave several seconds off my time with the Athens Tri, which is a pool swim.
My training partners have changed gyms so it looks like I'm definitely on my own now. That's ok though, I really think I'm going to go into this and mop the floor with their asses. Mu Mu Muhahahhaahahaaa!!

Super Bowl Sunday

The Superbowl is going on today right?

Isn't that an event where some really big guys in tights run around a lined field throwing an oddly shaped brown ball about. Sometimes someone will catch the ball and all of the other guys will chase him this way and that until he surrenders or is thrown to the ground and dog-piled. Points are scored by the person who has the most original touchdown dance moves at the end of the field.
A field goal, which occurs when the ball is kicked through a large tuning fork, can also score a team points, but dancing is usually kept to a minimum during these times.

Prizes are also awarded to the most brilliantly painted beer bellies in the stands. I'm going to go get my paint and beer.

Have a great Super Bowl Sunday.
The half-time show should rock with The Boss.

It Was A Good Day

I had a nice day today. I got up early and biked a bike, although it wasn't the 30 miles I'd hoped for. We did 20 because we were tight on time. Amy needed me home by 10am so she could go out of town for a friend's baby shower. She wound up not going so Tristan, Amy, and myself spent the day together hanging out at the mall, and other stuff (wink wink).

At the mall I got 5 or 6 new t-shirts that were on sale at the Gap. I love getting a cool t-shirt for $4.50. The only thing better than finding a t-shirt for $4.50 is finding 5 or 6 t-shirts for $4.50.
I'll wear them to work with pride.

I just got home from the Saturday night church service. I think now would be a good time to kick back and pop a movie in.

Amy agrees. I know this because she's giving me the "look".

See ya!

Friday Night...

For some reason, the boss didn't ride with me today. Maybe he heard about all the things you guys wanted me to do to him, hahaha. Those were some great ideas, and I will certainly keep them in mind.

I stayed on my toes today just in case and really didn't get around to commenting or replying to you guys. I'll do it tomorrow when it's not so late.

We just cleaned the tarantula cage. Yuck. Harriet seems much happier for it now.

I am off work tomorrow so a friend and I are going to do a 30 mile bike early in the morning. It should be fun, but it will be too slow, I just know it.

The Jeep...
I didn't get the Jeep last Wed because the guy still didn't have the title. Good news though, he called me tonight and says he has it IN HAND. The only problem, he's out of pocket and won't be back until NEXT Wed.
I give up.

Not really.
I want that Jeep BAD, but I'm trying not to think about it.

Harriet just tucked herself down into the new bedding which is exactly what I'm about to do... in my own bed though... and I may stretch out rather than tuck down. I dunno, it just depends on how I feel.

See you tomorrow, kids.

No Good Deed...

My work, all the technical knowledge aside, is pretty easy and can usually be free of stress.
This has not always been so, but over the past 13 years, I have taken great pains to know exactly what is expected of me, productivity ratings and such, and go just a little beyond that, to sit squarely in the middle of the crew averages so as not to draw attention to myself.

BUT

Now I have the new supervisor. He's gung-ho about gung-ho. He wants to be the best darn crew in the entire city by our ratings of customer perception and overall performance. The company, in an effort to boost their numbers, try to promote this "friendly competitiveness" among the crews. I, however, do not subscribe to this notion.
I don't want to give 100% of myself to this job.
I want to give 110% of what they ask, and that's it. That's me working at about 75% capacity.

Anyway, he's really been on me lately... I mean, following me around and whatnot. I don't like it because everytime he drives up on me, he has some snarky critique that is really starting to piss me off.
And now, this morning, he has finally told me why he's been doing it.
I've gone and let myself get the highest rating in the crew for "Customer Perception".
I got noticed, as it were.
You see, after I leave a job, another clerical employee will call the customer and do a review of my work and how the customer felt about the visit and all that crap. Don't ask how they come to a percentile with this, but they do.
As a crew we are running a 78%. I am personally running a 98%. Now the boss wants to ride with me because I have the best numbers to see what it is I do to make the customers so satisfied (haha, yeah), then he will ride with the guys who have the worst numbers and compare the differences.
I don't even like this guy. He's a real Jackhole, and now, because I've been a good boy, I'm going to be stuck with him all day... maybe a few days.
What is it that they say?

No good deed goes unpunished
amen

I may have to think of some really weird habits and rituals I like to go through before going out on a job. hahaha, yeah, like:

"Before I leave the customer, I like to give her/him a hug and ruffle their hair."
